Find verified astronomical societies, understand how they relate to Communities and use society pages, events and check-ins safely.
Societies are not a separate social system inside Astro Corner. A verified society is an official-society Community with extra discovery and organisation tools layered on top of the normal Community membership, posts, events, projects and moderation model.
Find a verified society
The Societies directory lists active public official-society Communities whose identity has been verified by Astro Corner. Use location and available facility/event filters to narrow the directory.
A verified badge means Astro Corner has reviewed the organisation identity/ownership according to the current process; it does not endorse every statement or activity of the organisation.
Societies are still Communities
Joining, roles, posts, announcements, resources, galleries, projects, events and moderation continue to use the normal Community system. The Societies directory is a specialised discovery view, not a duplicate membership database.
Custom society profile pages
Authorised managers of an active verified society can use the society Page Builder to create a richer official Community profile from Astro Corner-controlled blocks such as hero content, meetings, membership information, contact details, observatory information, FAQs, documents, galleries and events.
The builder does not accept arbitrary JavaScript, custom CSS or unrestricted embeds. Rich text is restricted to a small server-side allow-list and is sanitised again when rendered.
Event check-in
A verified society can create time-limited check-in links for suitable events. Signed-in members can use the link to record attendance through Astro Corner’s event-attendance system.
Managers can deactivate a check-in link when it should no longer be accepted.
Embeds and public information
Verified societies can use Astro Corner-generated read-only embeds such as their public card or upcoming-events calendar on an external society website. This is different from allowing a society to embed arbitrary third-party code inside Astro Corner.
