Take a Tonight plan into a night-vision workspace, save it for poor reception and synchronise observed/skipped targets and notes safely later.
Field Mode is the stripped-back observing workspace for use at the telescope. It keeps controls large and distractions low, can preserve a chosen plan offline and turns field actions into the same Astro Corner observing history you use elsewhere.
Start from a Tonight plan
Field Mode uses your current planning context and target plan rather than inventing a separate observing list. Prepare the night in Tonight, then open Field Mode when you are ready to work through the targets.
The interface deliberately favours large controls and a night-friendly presentation over dense desktop controls.
Save a plan for offline use
Choose Save this plan offline while you still have a connection if you expect poor mobile reception. Astro Corner stores the Field Mode page and supporting resources on that browser/device so the plan can continue to open without a reliable network.
Offline storage is explicit rather than automatic because observing plans can contain personal astronomy context. Use Remove offline copy when you no longer want the cached page kept on that device.
Observed, skipped and quick notes
Mark a target Observed when you actually complete it, Skip when you decide not to continue with it, and add quick notes while the details are fresh. An observed target can create a real Astro Corner Observation linked into an observing session rather than remaining a disposable checklist tick.
The quick observation details can preserve method, actual duration, eyepiece/filter, seeing, transparency, visibility and notes where you supply them.
Offline queue and synchronisation
If an action cannot reach Astro Corner, Field Mode queues it locally and retries when the connection returns. Unique client tokens make retries idempotent so the same queued observation is not supposed to become duplicate records simply because connectivity was unreliable.
Do not clear browser/site storage while you still have unsynchronised field actions you need to keep. Removing the offline page is designed not to discard the pending action queue.
After the night
Because successful Observed actions become normal observations, they can feed object history, Passport progress, Astronomy Statistics and relevant projects just like observations recorded from the full interface.
