The Dark-Sky Map plots public Astro Corner observing sites using the location and sky-quality information those site records are allowed to publish. Bortle estimates and SQM readings can help compare broad sky conditions before you investigate access and local reports.
An optional continuous light-pollution overlay can appear when Astro Corner has a suitable licensed tile provider configured. The underlying public site records remain useful even without that external layer.
Use site data responsibly
A map pin does not guarantee that a site is open, safe or suitable on a particular night. Read access, parking, facilities, accessibility, safety and community-report information before travelling.
Private/home observing locations are not turned into public map sites merely because you use them for Tonight or your own observations.
