The public Equipment Reference Library is more than a list of specifications. Astro Corner can compare optical/camera combinations, hand calculated fields of view into Sky Atlas and attach experience reports to equipment that members actually own or have owned.
Research shared equipment
Public equipment pages describe shared telescope, camera and accessory products independently of any one member’s personal equipment history. Use them when researching a model, following a Guide reference or checking what other Astro Corner features understand about the product.
Your personal Equipment & Rigs area remains separate: adding a shared reference product does not claim that you own it.
Compare optical and camera combinations
Equipment Compare can place several telescope/camera combinations side by side. Where the required specifications are available, Astro Corner calculates the approximate field of view for each configuration.
Reducer/Barlow factor, binning and rotation let you model the setup more realistically. A saved Astro Corner rig can be used as a starting point rather than selecting every component again.
Open the comparison in Sky Atlas
Choose a celestial target and open the comparison in Sky Atlas to draw the selected FoV rectangles over the sky. This is useful for questions such as whether M31 fits comfortably on a sensor or how two cameras change framing.
The overlay is a planning aid. Actual framing can differ because of exact focal length, reducer spacing, crop, rotation, distortion and other real-world setup details.
Owner-experience reviews
Where owner experiences are enabled, Astro Corner only accepts an experience from a member whose equipment history links them to that product. That provides useful context beyond an anonymous star rating.
Public attribution also follows the member’s public-profile rules. A product page does not override somebody’s profile privacy.
