Your account menu brings together notification settings, security, privacy, preferences and data/account controls. These areas are worth reviewing before you build a large astronomy history on the site.
Notifications and delivery channels
Notification Settings lets you decide which categories should notify you and which available delivery channels you want to use. In-site notifications are shown in Astro Corner; email and browser push depend on the options currently enabled for your account and browser.
Community and astronomy-alert settings can add their own more specific controls on top of your general notification preferences.
Password and recovery
Account Security is where you change your password and manage the email addresses used for verification/recovery. Security-sensitive changes can require you to confirm your identity again before Astro Corner applies them.
Keep recovery information current so losing access to one login method does not unnecessarily lock you out.
Two-factor authentication
Enable two-factor authentication if you want an additional sign-in step beyond your password. Store the generated recovery codes somewhere safe and separate from the device you normally use to sign in.
If you regenerate recovery codes, treat the previous set as obsolete.
Sessions and linked sign-in providers
Review active sessions when you want to sign another browser/device out. You can also link or unlink supported social sign-in providers from the security area when the provider is configured and the account remains safely recoverable.
Your data and account lifecycle
Your Data & Account area provides the member-facing controls for requesting an export and, when needed, starting/cancelling the account-deletion process according to the current retention/lifecycle rules.
Because some astronomy records can involve collaboration, ownership or other people, the page can show a preflight/warnings rather than pretending every record can always disappear instantly without consequences.
Before requesting deletion, download anything you want to keep and review records where you are the sole owner of shared projects or communities.

The Notifications page separates categories such as Mentions, Replies, Astronomy, Communities, Events, Projects and Account. Use Select all shown plus bulk actions to mark selected notifications read or dismiss them.
The options menu on a notification can temporarily mute that exact notification type for the durations offered, or until you resume it. Muting affects new delivery for that type without deleting existing notifications.
Separate Messages and Connections counts
Private-message unread counts are shown beside Messages/Chats rather than mixed into the general Notifications count. Pending friend requests have their own Connections count.
Navigation counters refresh periodically while Astro Corner is open, so these indicators can update without reloading the page.
