Upload astronomy images, classify and describe them, preserve capture/processing metadata, use plate solving and connect media to objects, observations and projects.
The Gallery is more than an image wall. Each media item can become a durable astronomy record with capture metadata, astrometry, versions, processing provenance and links back to the observing work that produced it.
Upload and classify media
Upload supported images from the Gallery and choose the most appropriate classification, title, description and visibility. Classifications help distinguish captured astronomy data/processed images, sketches, equipment photos, general astronomy photography, illustration/art and AI-generated or AI-assisted media where applicable.
Astro Corner preserves originals alongside derived display sizes according to the media pipeline, while sensitive embedded GPS metadata is not intended to be exposed casually.
Capture metadata
For astronomy images, add or import useful capture context. FITS/header metadata can be imported where supported so exposure/filter/instrument details do not need to be retyped unnecessarily.
Keep enough context to understand the data later, especially when the same object has many versions or sessions.
Plate solving and object suggestions
Queue plate solving when you want Astro Corner to determine the sky position and field information for an image. When a solution/import suggests celestial objects, review the suggestions rather than treating them as automatically correct.
Versions and processing provenance
Create media versions when an image develops through processing rather than overwriting the only copy. Mark the preferred version and archive obsolete renders while retaining the history that is useful to you.
Processing provenance lets you record meaningful processing steps so a final image has context beyond the pixels alone.
Link the astronomy record
Connect media to objects, observations and projects. These links make the image discoverable from the records that explain when, where and why it was created.
Annotations can add useful labelled context to an image when that feature is appropriate.
