Projects give longer-running astronomy work a home. They can represent imaging, visual observing, catalogue programmes, equipment builds, learning, citizen science, community collaboration or general astronomy work.
Create a project
Give the project a clear title and description, choose the project type/status, add initial targets where useful and set visibility. The project page then becomes the place where related goals, targets, media, observations and updates stay connected.
Goals, targets and updates
Goals break a large project into meaningful pieces you can mark complete over time. Targets identify the celestial objects involved. Updates form the project’s chronological working log.
When an update is worth discussing with the wider community, use Share as Post rather than creating an unrelated duplicate message.
Collaborators and credit
Add Astro Corner members as contributors when you are genuinely working together. External credit is useful when somebody contributed but does not have an Astro Corner account.
Use roles/credit descriptions to explain what people actually did instead of implying every contributor had the same responsibility.
Link observations and images
Connect the observations and media produced by the project so the final project page tells the complete story rather than just holding planning text.
This is particularly useful for a project that spans many nights or produces several processing versions of the same data.
Imaging capture-session workflow
Imaging projects include deeper tools for importing supported capture-session exports, including N.I.N.A./capture-session data where the current importer recognises it. Review equipment/rig matching and normalised rows before applying imported information.
Filter/channel totals and reconciliation tools are there to help avoid counting the same capture data twice. Link the resulting project data to the observation that best represents the session when appropriate.
Treat imported capture data as something to review, not as infallible metadata. Your own project and observation records remain the final context.
