Astro Corner is organised around real astronomy activity: people, observations, objects, projects, images, events and communities. This guide explains the main layout and the quickest ways to find your way around.
The main workspace
On desktop, the left sidebar is the main map of Astro Corner. Home, Explore, Tonight, Sky Atlas, Journal, Passport, Objects, Projects, Communities, Events, Trading Post, Messages and Connections remain the core member areas.
Your Astronomy also brings together practical tools such as Astronomy Now, Field Mode, Statistics, Astronomy Alerts, Observing Sites, Dark-Sky Map, My Locations, Target Lists, Societies, Learning Paths, Citizen Science, Guides, Gallery and Calendar.
Home is your social dashboard and post composer.
Explore is a transparent discovery view with recent/reference content rather than an engagement-ranked feed.
Tonight brings together weather, darkness, horizons, targets and observing plans.
Your astronomy areas preserve your own observing history and planning records.
Top bar shortcuts
The top bar stays available across the signed-in application. Use the global search box to look across people, objects, posts, projects, images, equipment, communities, guides and public observing sites.
The + menu groups common creation actions into Share, Observe, Organise and Talk so you do not have to navigate to a section before starting something new.
Use the language menu to change your interface language.
Use the sun/moon control to switch theme quickly.
Notifications and your account menu provide shortcuts to settings, saved items, drafts and account controls.
Mobile navigation
On smaller screens the most frequently used areas move to the bottom navigation: Home, Explore, Tonight and Messages.
Tap More for the rest of the main navigation, Your Astronomy links and quick-create shortcuts. The same records and privacy rules apply on mobile and desktop.
How Astro Corner links things together
Many Astro Corner records can reference one another. An observation can link objects, equipment, a location, an observing session and media. A project can link targets, images and observations. Guides can reference objects and equipment.
Using these links makes your astronomy history much more useful later: you can revisit an object and see related activity instead of having isolated posts scattered across the site.
You do not need to fill every field. Start with the information that is useful to you and add detail as your observing history grows.
Quick Launcher, pinned pages & recent work
Press Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux or Command+K on macOS to open the Quick Launcher. It combines common actions with permission-aware search so you can jump to a person, object, community, project, guide, equipment item or observing site without navigating through several screens.
Pin useful member-facing pages from the top bar when you want a permanent shortcut. Astro Corner also remembers useful recently visited pages and can show Continue where you left off on Home when there is a draft, observing plan or recent task worth returning to.
Use the global Create menu when you know what you want to make but not which section owns it.
Pinned and Recent are personal navigation aids; they do not affect what other members see.
The Quick Launcher and type-ahead search remain permission-aware.
